The Infectious Rise of 'Future House'

Ravers have been raising their arms to the roof, stomping their feet and even cutting shapes to Deep House music, the most popular subgenre of House music, since the late 1980s. The subgenre gained underground acclaim in major US cities such as Chicago, Detroit and New York through pioneers such as Ten City and Mr. Fingers.
As of late, the progressive genre has evolved and branched off into what is now dubbed 'Future House'. The jazz, disco and funk styles of the Deep House '80s and '90s music, that were conveyed through synths, pianos and often smooth vocals, have been modified to fit the mainstream bill. The underlying chilled-out grooves that used to fall slowly and effortlessly over the duration of the track have been replaced by simpler, yet more provocative and faster rhythms; carried usually by a single, recurring syncopation. This brand 'Future House', occassionally known as 'Deep Vocal House', a cousin of the more in-your-face supersaw-led 'Big Room House' music subgenre ruled by artists such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Showtek and other Spinnin' Records spearheads, is currently being led by the young DJ Oliver Heldens with others such as Wankelmut, Gorgon City and Secondcity.
'Future House' is most easily defined as the amalgam of/ crossroads between Deep House music and EDM (Electronic Dance Music), which emerged during the 2010s. It dominates dance charts and seeps into the mainstream charts, battling the popular music. Tchami argues he was the sole pioneer of the subgenre due to his meteoric rise to prominence from 2013, when, unnannounced, he dropped his revolutionary track "Promesses [featuring Kaleem Taylor]". Using fresh sounds and fresher ideas he brought all house fanatics a new kind of sound that completely brought the genre, and seemingly us all, into a new dimension. One where the possibilities were endless. That's why Tchami argues that 'Future House', as he dubbed it back in 2013, should define all fresh and revolutionary house sounds. The commercial quality of the Parisian Tchami, Oliver Heldens and most Spinnin' Records powerhouses seem to bring the feel of the festival to your front door, into your speakers or headphones, and to your shuffling feet.
